The Artist Profile returns with local rapper from The 970, Andy Pablo! This episode promotes his first independent EP release titled “Still Learning.”

Andy comes from Vail, Colorado and is currently attending college at Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs, CO. He has been writing songs and rapping since the age of 17. He spent the last year writing a few brand new songs, and well as re-using and repurposing some old lyrics. These efforts manifested in the release of his first EP, “Still Learning”

Andy studies some of his favorite rappers for inspiration, examples include Erick the Architect from Flatbush Zombies, Joey Bada$$, and Logic.

Featured in this interview is the track “Don’t Trust,” one of the darker tracks on the EP.  “In my head, trust can’t be reimbursed, so when that gets broken it’s a big thing. When I was writing the song it helped me to project what I was feeling without harming those people that burned me. There’s no sense in vengeance and revenge.”

Andy believes that MC’s should address and promote positivity, equality, and love. He says that while these things are in people’s minds, but he believes they should be more of a focus.

Because Of You Podcast – Doug Stewart – Director of Marketing

This episode of the podcast covers a range of topics from the early days of CMC’s marketing department, the brand identity of the college and its authentic marketing messages that have been cultivated over the years.

doug stewart podcast
Lucas Turner and Doug Stewart

Doug got his start at CMC in the Professional Photography program the 1984. He did various writing and photography jobs after graduation, including helping with the brand new marketing department at Colorado Mountain College.

“Working for CMC allowed me to live in a beautiful place that I love and raise my family. I love the outdoors and everything mountains. It also gave me a good job where I enjoy the people I work with, and I agree with the mission.

I’ve always felt extremely fortunate that I was able to work at Colorado Mountain College, contribute to its mission, contribute to the community, and live a lifestyle that’s hard to beat anywhere.”

More from the episode:

One thing from a marketing perspective that Doug says he’d like to see change is the perception of Colorado Mountain College as a “less than” school. He thinks that we should try to get parents and students and counselors and high school teachers to recognize that we send people to ivy league schools directly from here, we send people to Cambridge in England directly form here, we send people to work on their PHDs at Cornell that are full bright scholars, those are our students.

“We’re never going to have the reputation of Harvard or Yale or any of those, but there’s a different category that we fit it, that really does deliver a solid education and prepares you for whatever else you’ll do. I’d love to have that be the top of mind thought for people when they think of Colorado Mountain College, because it’s true.”

Doug Stewart

More about LET THEM ROAR

LET THEM ROAR began with Olivia Pevec, Frank Martin, Mateo Sandate, and Bob Dylan. Soon Ashton Taufer , a Berklee man on bass, and Aaron Taylor, jazz drummer extraordinaire joined in for a show at Steve’s Guitars in Carbondale Colorado.

A band was most certainly born! LET THEM ROAR has played Carbondales’ Mountain Fair, Potato Days Fest, Sopris Music Fest, Glenwoods’ Summer Series of Music, Strawberry Days Fest, Fruita Fall Festival, Red-White-Brews Fest, the PAC 3, and the Belly Up Aspen.
